1.1 Instrumentation: microscopes and sensors
Innovation is distinguished from invention by the fact that an innovation is an invention that is disseminated to the public, notably through marketing. Nanotechnology-based innovation was able to start taking off with the commercialization of a new generation of instruments enabling us to see and work at the molecular scale. These instruments essentially fall into two categories with porous boundaries: microscopes and sensors.
