6. Nuclear Safety Oversight of Small Modular Reactors
The pre-launch phases (development, ground testing, manufacturing, and transport) involve nuclear safety issues similar to those of terrestrial micro reactors and are subject to the established regulatory framework of the country where they are carried out or to international regulations (transport). This document therefore addresses nuclear safety considerations solely during the launch, in-space operation, and end-of-service phases of the GENSF.
