5. Incineration of minor actinides in 4th generation nuclear reactors

5.1 Scenarios studied

When it comes to weighing up the advantages and disadvantages of transmuting minor actinides, the different scenarios to be studied are recycling plutonium alone (referred to in the following as the RNR_2040 scenario), recycling plutonium and all minor actinides, and recycling plutonium and americium alone. A distinction must also be made between homogeneous and heterogeneous transmutation.
