3. Unit biogas purification processes

The issues raised and defined by biogas upgrading require consideration of various interdependent aspects:

  • the chemical composition of biogas ;

  • the concentration level of each species ;

  • the unitary treatment process used ;

  • application.

These technical difficulties are more easily understood and mastered if they are discretized according to the chemical nature of the compounds, with a view to unitary processing.

The aim of this paragraph is to present the main unit processes that can make up a biogas treatment plant; a concise description of their performance on the target compound(s) is proposed, but mainly their impact on VOCs and siloxanes.
