9. Demineralized water production

These systems, although considered as auxiliary, are essential to the proper operation of the plant, and in particular to the service life of the equipment. Water quality is essential to avoid corrosion problems in boiler exchanger tubes. The composition of a demineralization chain depends on the characteristics of the locally available water, which is why it is difficult to give a detailed description. It is best to refer to the articles on this subject in our collection.

Recovery boilers feature continuous blowdown tanks to remove salts and impurities. Purge flow is often equal to 1% of the flow produced by each pressure level. After passing through demineralizing filters, it may be sent to the cold source or to the drain. In this case, it must be compensated by injecting the corresponding flow of demineralized water.
