2. Recovery boilers

At the design stage, performance gains on combined-cycle power plants are mainly achieved on the water-steam cycle. For a given power level, the choice of gas cycle often results in the same machines (standardized combustion turbine), hence the importance of the steam cycle to distinguish solutions.

This cycle corresponds to the Hirn cycle.
