3. Conclusion

Unlike the oil refining industry, where the variability of hydrocarbons is limited, the conversion of a wide variety of feedstocks into biofuels using a wide range of processes (catalytic, thermal, biochemical, thermochemical) calls for adapted and specific choices for the materials making up the process equipment used. In addition, the effects of contaminants from the synthesis process or from fuel ageing must be taken into account to ensure optimal, reliable operation of engines and turbojets. In order to achieve the objectives of a transition to low-carbon energies, the continued development of this industry and the resulting feedback will contribute to enhancing its performance and reliability.
