6. Conclusion

For domestic wood heating to remain a viable renewable energy source, it is important to consider all its aspects and work to make it ever more efficient and clean. While major efforts have already been made in recent years to significantly reduce CO emissions and increase the energy efficiency of appliances, further developments are needed in the coming years to reduce the impact of wood heating on particulate and PAH emissions in particular. From this point of view, the evolution of regulations and standardization is a key factor that will lead to improvements in appliance operation and the development of effluent treatment devices.
