2. How can green gas be stored?
Once green gas has entered the transmission networks, it is first stored. When demand arises, the required quantity of green gas is retrieved from the storage areas, then transported back from the transmission networks to the distribution networks, guaranteeing a continuous supply to consumption areas over the course of a year.
There are two types of storage: above-ground and underground.
2.1 Overhead storage
Aerial storage does not require any special geological conditions. Gas reservoirs are used to store gas at atmospheric pressure. They take the form of cylindrical tanks. Their storage capacity ranges from 500 to 10,000 m 3 .
