3.1 New low-carbon challenges of additional energy recovery

There are many ways of recovering high- and low-temperature waste energy, and the recovery of additional low-carbon energy is now an essential part of the energy transition.

This type of valorization consists in reusing part of the fatal energy that would otherwise be lost in many processes, industrial, transport, building and many other fields. Trivial examples include the recovery of heat from flue gases, or the use of exhaust heat to generate electricity or cold or hot thermal energy. Heat pumps similarly capture heat from external sources (air, water, ground) to heat buildings or industrial processes
