8. Facilities in France

Favorable areas are shown on the tidal range map (figure 8 ). Most are located between the Cotentin peninsula and the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. Significant potential also exists between Dieppe and Boulogne.

Theoretical energy potential exceeds 1,000 TWh/year. Supplying 100 TWh/year with 30 GW is economically and technically realistic, and requires nearly 3,000 km ² of basins along 200 to 300 km of coastline, with barely visible dikes some 20 km from the coast.
