2. Functional characteristics of an exchanger

If you want to define a heat exchanger unambiguously, with a view to its construction, purchase or on-site verification of its performance, it is essential to fill in all the items below in the form of a data sheet.

2.1 Function

This is the first point that needs to be made because, depending on whether they are to act as evaporators or condensers, the two types of appliance, despite their similarity in terms of technology (multitubular or finned), differ in specific details linked to their functions, such as refrigerant supply or the nature of the materials used.
