2. Sustainable development

Refrigeration and air conditioning are in line with sustainable development:

  • for the economic aspect of an important sector with worldwide sales of 200 billion dollars. The early and widespread application of refrigeration to produce (vegetables, fruit, meat, fish) would reduce losses estimated at 15% of production in developed countries; losses which, for certain products, reach 50% in developing countries;

  • for the social aspect, by improving working and living conditions and creating more than 2 million skilled jobs;

  • for the environmental aspect with the reduction of emissions and the capture of CO 2 , the maintenance of biodiversity, the reduction or banning of substances participating in the destruction of the ozone layer or...
