4.1 Space evolution

The various services and networks require their own specific areas for installation, maintenance and development. As space in buildings is expensive, the natural tendency is to reduce and concentrate the various services.

This is countered by a number of factors:

• regulations and standards ;

• technical constraints (network separation, distances related to electromagnetic compatibility, interference, thermal radiation, condensation or leaks, etc.);

• constraints relating to human intervention (space required, safety, manoeuvres, tools, etc.);

• modifications and extensions to take account of changes...
