6.1 Markings

• CE marking, which declares conformity with the essential requirements of directives, is carried out under the sole responsibility of the manufacturer or importer; it is a condition for placing equipment on the European market, but provides no guarantee of the equipment's quality.

• Marks of conformity to standards are issued after various procedures (tests, periodic sampling, quality assurance system, etc.) under the supervision of an approved third-party organization.

  They may be national equivalents (NF, VDE, IMQ, KEMA, etc.), or European equivalents (ENEC for luminaires and accessories).
