INTRODUCTION
The management of septage and sludge from non-collective sanitation systems is a growing concern for local authorities, and for public and private players, who want the disposal and recovery of this waste to be efficient and safe.
The aim of this article is to provide a state-of-the-art overview of techniques and best practices for the management, collection, treatment and reclamation of septage.
The different stages in the management of septage will be discussed, and we'll give a precise overview of the different treatment and/or recovery processes for these by-products of non-collective sanitation systems.
