The aim of this article is to provide a state-of-the-art overview of techniques and best practices for the management, collection, treatment and reclamation of septage.

The different stages in the management of septage will be discussed, and we'll give a precise overview of the different treatment and/or recovery processes for these by-products of non-collective sanitation systems.
