The staircase must allow an isolated person to move around without difficulty.

2.1 Collective circulation. Passage unit. Flow

In a population where individuals are indistinguishable from one another, traffic flow is measured in terms of throughput. These are rigorously governed by the dimensions and ergonomics of human walking.

Walking requires little physical effort, and in practice, speed is limited only by the delay of the order of a second that always elapses between the perception of the ground where the foot will land and its safe support. This conditions collective movements. Traffic flows more or less in lanes that follow one another, allowing you to see a little further than the 0.60 m separating two people.
