4. Mechanical resistance

This is the resistance to stresses specific to the opening mode. A detailed study of this point would therefore be lengthy and could justify an article in itself. So we'll mention just one example, that of English or French sashes for the vertical load test. Two aspects will be discussed here: the evaluation of the nose drop in the event of defective wedging, and the forces that the wedge at the head of the sash must absorb.
