4. Conclusion

The aim of this article is to present a number of nonlinear behavior laws commonly used in civil engineering. More specifically, the presentation focuses on identifying the various parameters on which the behavior laws depend, and on a few examples of applications at the structural element level.

  • In the first part, the main types of material parameters encountered are presented and classified into three groups:

    • parameters characterizing the material's elasticity ;

    • the parameters defining the transition thresholds between the elastic and non-linear behaviour regimes;
