Overview

ABSTRACT

Structural fire design calculation methods are explained within two parts, this article and the first (C 2506), by referring to Structural Eurocodes.

This second part dealt with the mechanical behavior of structural elements when heated, either made in steel or steel profiles associated to concrete, referring to simplified calculation methods given in the fire parts of Eurocode 3 and 4.

Some examples of global behavior of structures submitted to fire are given in the last chapter.

 INTRODUCTION

The methods for verifying the fire behavior of steel and composite structures are presented in two parts, in articles [C 2 506] and [C 2 507] , with reference to the Eurocodes.

This second part deals with the mechanical behavior of heated structural elements, whether made of steel or a combination of steel sections and concrete, with reference to the simplified calculation methods given in the "fire" parts of Eurocodes 3 and 4.

Examples of the overall behavior of structures subjected to fire are given in the final chapter.
