7. Conclusion

Hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion protection of steel structures offers a number of advantages, not least of which is the fact that the coating requires no periodic maintenance, which has a significant impact on the long-term cost of protection.

It distinguishes itself from other anti-corrosion processes by :

  • a metallic coating, strongly bonded to the base steel, due to the metallurgical reaction that occurs when the parts are immersed in the liquid zinc bath;

  • full coverage of galvanized parts, inside and out;
