3. Combining processes in a single fastener

Wherever possible, it is advisable to avoid combining two different connection methods (hybrid connection), as these transmit forces in proportion to their respective stiffnesses. Since it is often difficult to determine these stiffnesses precisely, the design and calculation of such a connection is problematic. Only non-displacement processes can be combined, in which case it is customary to reserve each of the assembly means used for the transmission of a particular type of force, provided that it is first ensured that the operation of one does not impair the operation of the other.

The creation of hybrid assemblies is subject to fairly strict execution rules.
