3. Total and updated Lagrangian formulations

Given the non-linearity of the phenomenon, it is necessary to define the incremental scheme for tracking the solid's motion from one configuration to another. To this end, we define state increments of acceptable size, referenced by the pseudo-time increments Δt. In other words, we study the evolution from the state at time t (i.e. current configuration) to the state at time t + Δt (i.e. future configuration), as illustrated in figure 11 .
