5.1 Warning
This chapter brings together the rules for taking account of accidental actions caused by river or sea traffic, as set out in Eurocode NF EN 1997-1-7 : Accidental actions.
The first documents dealing with the design and calculation of structures were drawn up in 1976, and were called Eurocodes. At the time, the aim was to create a common denominator to enable proposals to be judged during calls for tender for works within the framework of the free circulation of goods and products. After an international inquiry, followed by the publication of the Construction Products Directive, these texts were transferred to CEN with a view to transforming them into European standards.
