7. Chemical resistance of geomembranes
Some typical data on the chemical resistance of various geomembranes are presented schematically in Table 5 . The following conclusions are usually drawn from these data.
HDPE geomembranes are clearly the most chemically resistant. They have very high resistance to most chemicals, and for this reason are used for bottom sealing in the majority of waste storage facilities, even in cases where chemical concentrations are very low and other geomembranes would probably be able to withstand them.
LLDPE and PP geomembranes have fairly high chemical resistance to many products.
