4. What's new?

The desire to restrict load breaks and optimize just-in-time goods handling is driving the various operators to constantly develop mechanization, automation and computerized management throughout the freight handling chain. These developments mainly concern high-traffic platforms, for which the use of traditional methods is no longer feasible in view of throughput levels, while on smaller platforms, throughput levels are insufficient to amortize the investments linked to these techniques.

Example

The new Air France cargo terminal at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle, known as G1XL, due to open shortly, is a typical example of these developments.
