6.1 Main families of hydraulic road binders (HWB)

Some hydraulic road binders have been developed for gravel or treated sands used as road base courses. Others were developed for soil treatments. These binders can be broadly classified according to their main use:

• fine soil treatment ;

• off-season work ;

• treatment of clay materials (including substitution of double treatment with lime and cement) ;

• chalk processing ;

• treatment of subnormal limestone ;

• earthworks.
