1. Definitions
The word "tramway" refers to a railroad track consisting of 2 parallel rails on which steel-wheeled vehicles provide urban passenger transport services. Then, by extension, the electrically-powered transport vehicle running on these rails, often embedded in the pavement, and guided by them.
A single-bodied motor vehicle that can pull one or more non-motorized trailers is called a self-propelled vehicle or, more commonly, a "motrice".
A trainset is made up of several railcars running in multiple units (MUs), which may be accompanied by one or more trailers. In everyday language, this is referred to as a streetcar.
