5.1.1 General presentation

The use of a Pressure Sewage System (PSS) represents a particularly cost-effective solution for remote residential areas. These sewage systems use small (and filled) discharge pipes operating under pressure, and are laid in narrow, shallow trenches following the natural contours of the land. The crushing mechanism built into the pumps reduces the size of solid particles, making them easier to transport through small-diameter pipes.
