4. Applications

This section will discuss three automation applications developed by Kardham Architecture in recent years. Originally developed for a specific project, they have all been reused, either in part or in their entirety, on other projects.

The first application involves converting VRD 3D model elements into editable elements within the architect’s 3D BIM software; the second involves bulk data import into the 3D BIM software; and the third involves repurposing the 3D BIM software to cross-reference information in various digital formats.

They will be presented in three parts: the problem encountered, the solution developed, and a critical analysis.
