6. Conclusion

BIM is intended to streamline the design and construction of buildings and infrastructure, which are subject to numerous constraints. While it is designed to meet clients’ needs, it also presents new challenges. Task automation helps overcome many of these challenges through a wide range of applications.

Like BIM, it should remain a tool at the service of the project and not exist for its own sake. Its main advantage is that it can be customized to suit any need; its main drawback is that it requires computer programming skills that do not align with the training and expertise of all stakeholders.

But then who might be the developer behind these applications? Aside from service companies that provide turnkey solutions and automated process development, internally this task naturally falls to companies’ BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators....
