4. Stripping time

The waiting time for concrete to dry after concreting and be removed from the formwork depends on the desired strength of the concrete, in order to avoid :

  • any surface crazing;

  • any cracking in the mass;

  • any bursting of prestressed concrete in pre-tensioned or post-tensioned parts.

The waiting time before stripping the formwork is therefore of prime importance, and plays a part in the formwork rotation time.

This must be defined at the outset of the formwork rotation study. Indeed, if for a daily re-use, the quantity of formwork required to keep up with the rate is "Q", in the case where the concrete will require the formwork to remain in place for an extra day, the quantity of formwork, to keep up with the rate,...
