3. Demolition permits

3.1 Definitions

Generally speaking, demolition refers to work that results in the total or partial disappearance of a building as a result of a deliberate act. This work is carried out on the shell of the building (foundations, exterior walls and floors) and significantly affects it.

The concept of demolition also covers work that renders the use of the premises dangerous or impossible, leading to their dismantling, for example by removing doors, windows, staircases or parquet flooring.

To find out whether a demolition project will require a permit, contact the town planning department of the municipality where the building will be located.
