11. Crane operator
A crane (especially a tower crane) cannot be operated without a crane operator, and not just anyone can be a crane operator. The candidate must (after a medical examination) undergo CACES (certificat d'aptitude à la conduite en sécurité) training, culminating in an examination, and then his employer must issue him with a driving authorization for the type of equipment set out in his certificate. This authorization allows the operator to "drive" the crane.
The role of a crane operator is crucial; in the past, it was said, especially in the construction industry, that the result of a job site was largely due to the crane operator.
