1. Burglary and vandalism

The number of burglaries is constantly on the rise, as the latest statistics confirm.

Victimization surveys show that the proportion of complaints in the case of burglaries (apart from attempted burglaries) is high (between 70 and 80%), and methodological studies have shown that there is fairly good convergence between trends in victimization surveys and those in administrative data in this area.

It should be noted that 2 out of 3 burglaries are committed in broad daylight, and that 60% of break-ins take place between 2pm and 6pm. Break-ins with the aim of committing a theft make up a large proportion of what we might call "average crime". Due to their sheer number, these thefts cause considerable damage to property owners every year. These thefts can be accompanied by assaults if the occupants are present at the time of the intrusion....
