6. Technical crossings and networks

Technical penetrations are one of the main sources of discontinuity in an insulated straw wall. Each utility line (electricity, ventilation, plumbing, service ducts) introduces a potential break:

  • airtightness;

  • thermal continuity;

  • of the water vapor management plan;

  • of local mechanical integrity.

In a highly insulated and airtight building, these gaps can have a disproportionate impact on overall performance.
