2. Bitumen

  • Area of use

    Bitumen-based waterproofing is generally produced by bonding hot bitumen (known as hot applied coating or HAC) to factory-prefabricated sheets comprising a reinforcement (cardboard, felt or glass cloth) coated with a bituminous mass. This is not simply a poured waterproofing compound, as in the case of asphalt used in public works. However, as we shall see, this is an old technique that is now outdated.
