7. Hydrocarbons

These products, considered here from a hydraulic point of view, are derived from the distillation of petroleum, which successively produces :

  • gases, delivered at low pressure or in the form of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) such as butane, propane and acetylene, which are volatile, flammable, explosive and highly toxic;

  • light gasolines used in the aviation, automotive and chemical industries, low-viscosity, flammable, volatile liquids;

  • heating oil (FOD), heavy fuel oil (FOL), fuel oil no. 1, fuel oil no. 2, for heating purposes, highly viscous, flammable liquids.

The transport (pipelines, waterways, trucks, trains) and storage of these products require perfectly ventilated and insulated facilities, particularly reliable because of the risk...
