1. Thermal regulations

1.1 General

The RT 2020 is an improved version of the RT 2012, with a few new features. The term "low-energy building" (BBC) has been replaced by "positive-energy building" (BÉPOS). As the consumption limits imposed by good insulation are no longer sufficient, the aim is to produce energy. As a result, new buildings will not only have to reduce their consumption, but also create their own energy to stop wastage.

In order to produce energy, certain points are mandatory to comply with these new regulations for positive energy buildings:

  • As far as materials are concerned, only those that are environmentally friendly will be used, such as hemp, cork or cellulose wadding;

  • windows must store heat,...
