Tilt angle α
This is the maximum angle, in relation to the horizontal, at which steps, trays or belts move.
For escalators, it must not exceed 30˚. However, for gradients less than or equal to 6 m and if the speed does not exceed 0.50 m/s, the angle of inclination may be increased to 35˚.
For moving walkways, it must not exceed 12˚. Manufacturers offer standard inclinations of 10, 11 and 12˚ for installations with trays and 0 to 6˚ for belt units.
