Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
In order to place their machines on the market, manufacturers are required to comply with the essential health and safety requirements, to apply the conformity assessment procedures described in Article 12 of the Directive, and to apply the CE mark.
Directive 2006/42/EC of May 17, 2006 (Machinery Directive) applies to escalators and moving walks. Directive 2006/42/EC replaced Directive 98/37/EC of June 22, 1998, which was a consolidation of the original Machinery Directive 89/392 EC of June 14, 1989 and its successive amendments.
Directive 2006/42/EC remains in line with the "new approach" as defined by the Council Resolution of May 7, 1985.
