4. Conclusion

Plaster-coated clay brick partitions have gradually been replaced by plasterboard partitions for at least four reasons:

  • long drying time for plaster-coated partitions before the painter's intervention;

  • speed of execution ;

  • The plasterer's trade is gradually disappearing: mixing plaster, the arduous and dirty work involved, producing a perfect plaster finish on ceilings and partitions requires a much longer apprenticeship than installing plasterboard partitions;

  • plasterboard and aerated concrete partitions still in short supply in homes.

The progress made in the quality of plasterboard and the possibilities offered by partition structures (sound and heat insulation) over the years has been a strong argument in their favor,...
