1.1 Technical notices

Created on the initiative of the French government, the Avis technique is an assessment service issued by the Commission responsible for formulating Avis techniques (CCFAT), which deals with innovative construction products and processes. It is carried out by specialized groups (GS), which formulate the Avis under the authority of the CCFAT.

The CSTB plays a special role defined by ministerial decree:

• it examines requests for Technical Approvals and reports them to the GS (specialized groups);

• it provides the secretariat for the CCFAT (Commission responsible for formulating technical opinions);

• it registers and publishes technical notices...
