2. Insulation regulations

Thermal regulations are a standard that regulate and supervise new buildings and show their maximum energy consumption.

2.1 Thermal regulations (RT)

  • RT 2005: follows on from RT2000. The 2005 thermal regulations take three criteria into account: energy consumption, indoor temperature in summer, and ventilation/insulation/heating. It applies to new buildings constructed between September 2006 and December 2012.

  • RT 2012: this standard has been in force since 2013, following the Grenelle environmental summit. Its aim is to reduce the production of greenhouse gases, in particular by improving the energy efficiency of buildings so as not to exceed 50 kWh/m 2 per...
