6. Conclusion

In this article, we have studied the basic physical constitution of the armature, then the inductor of DC motors. The various constructional aspects were covered in the course of the paper, with a focus on both large machines and servomotors. These two articles and [D 3 556] form a logical sequel which completely covers the subject of the DC machine. The bibliography will enable you to discover other aspects of this theme.

Technology has come a long way since the invention of this type of machine. Users now have access to robust, high-performance, low-maintenance motors. Although this technology is facing competition from brushless versions, it is not about to disappear. In automotive accessory applications, it remains indispensable for cost reasons. In robotics, however, it will become increasingly obsolete for torques in excess of 10 N · m....
