5. Conclusion

5.1 Current situation

At present, automotive traction seems to be the most relevant application for dual-excitation machines, in the sense that it allows all the advantages of these structures to be exploited. Controlling the excitation flow enables smoother operation at high speeds and better sizing of the converter-machine assembly. In addition, the energy efficiency of the traction system is improved by the use of dual-excitation machines, as we have been able to appreciate. An example of the sizing of these machines in paragraph 4
