1. EMC guidelines for power electronics
In this section, we look at the fundamental concepts for understanding and managing the electromagnetic compatibility of power electronics. These elements are increasingly present in the electronic designs of all products. In order to optimize their yields, all these power electronics use increasingly high fundamental frequencies with ever-shorter rise times. However, these properties work against reducing the noise emitted by these electronics. On the contrary, they cover ever wider noise spectra with ever higher spectral intensities. And compliance with EMC requirements for conducted and radiated emissions is becoming a real challenge. In other words, more and more equipment is no longer able to comply with emission standards, due to the lack of sufficient effort in upstream EMC design.
