2. Theoretical approach
The above approach is made possible by the simplicity of the injection process, with a point source located exactly at the interface. In the real world, injection can be carried out into a volume of earth by means of piles or grids. The point-source injection modeling method is not compatible for dealing with volume injections.
The following theoretical developments will enable us to deal with non-surface point injections, but also to take into account media with different physical properties, and finally to extend the approach developed to non-point injections. In this way, the approach is no longer restrictive, and allows the treatment of realistic and therefore complex devices.
