1. Soft switching

The design of energy-efficient converters is very often the result of a compromise between increasing switching frequency and advanced assembly techniques (3D assembly), while keeping losses low. However, it is impossible to increase the switching frequency without seeing a sharp rise in switch losses. Significant electromagnetic compatibility issues also arise due to the numerous parasitic elements in the circuit, when switching at high frequencies (a few tens of kilohertz), particularly common mode [D1305] .
