4. Conclusion

A variable reluctance machine always includes ferromagnetic materials whose geometric shape modifies the configuration of the magnetic field produced by one or more windings. Electromechanical conversion is possible when the spatial arrangement of ferromagnetic materials and windings obeys certain topological rules. The resulting machine structures are highly varied, making it possible to offer variable reluctance solutions for a wide range of applications, from high-speed machines with massive rotors, to very slow torque motors, and a whole range of actuators, sensors and even generators.
